“Now these were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of the mind, examining the Scriptures daily, whether these things were so” Acts 17:11

Begin Bible Study with Prayer Open thou mine eyes that I may see wondrous things out of thy law. Psalms 119:18 O God, thou art my God;early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is. Psalm 63:1
Devotional Bible Study is the most important kind of Bible Study. Devotional Bible Study means reading and studying the word of God. This is done in order that we may learn God's voice and that we may know how to do His will and live a better Christian life. I happen to know many people that wouldn't dream of starting their day without a cup of coffee. They depend on that "first cup" to give them a "jump start". There isn't a better way to become energized than by prayer and reading God's word. I can recall the words of a popular song among Christian groups, "Fill my cup, Lord; I lift it up, Lord. Come and quench this thirsting of my soul. Bread of heaven, feed me till I want no more; Fill my cup, fill it up and make me whole." God wants your cup to overflow with peace, joy, and love, in order that you may pour out the same into all who cross your pathway. The Good News is Refills are Free!

There hath no temptation taken you but such is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. But every man is tempted when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. |

There's a War Going On! For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Hebrews4:15 Yes! We are in a war against the devil, the flesh, and the world. Do you find yourself struggling with temptations? I assure you that nothing we face is unique. The temptations we battle are common". The Good News is God limits our temptations! Nothing we face is unbearable or intolerable. He will always provide a way of escape that will honor Him. Look for Routes of Escape *Run. Joseph fled from Potiphar's wife. Paul counseled Timothy to "flee the evil desires of his youth" (2 Tim. 2:22). *Resist. James says, "Resist the devil, and he will flee from you" (James 4:6). If you find yourself yielding to temptation, make a confession unto God and someone you trust. When we expose sin, we encourage the possibility of healing. When we hide our sin, it only grows and defeats us.

Sometimes we hesitate to taste food that doesn't appear appetizing. We finally go beyond our sense of sight just to find out "it was the best thing we had ever eaten"! Likewise, the word of God might not appeal to our flesh, but our spirit man will find it to be "the best thing we've ever eaten"!

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Psalms 119:105
So often we seek God for instruction and solutions to our problems. As in times past, He responds to us in such an unfamiliar way that we have a tendency to refer to the very thing we need as "Manna".(What is it?) I encourage you today to embrace what God has for you-even if it doesn't resemble what you're accustomed to. It will sustain! |

If you could get in contact with God directly, ask a question, and get an immediate reply - what would you ask? The Bible is the accurate source for any question you may have; it is God's answers to us and "He cannot lie". Most people want to know, "What is my purpose here?" Our purpose is to glorify God. (Isaiah 43:7) That is the reason for which we were made. The whole duty of man is to fear God and obey His commandments. (Eccl. 12:13)

Heavenly Father, I desire to live a life that is pleasing to you; but Father, "when I would do good, evil is always present". I come to you today asking you to grant me a way of escape. I know you are aware of the temptations I face on a daily basis, but I'm almost embarrassed to come to you knowing I have thoughts and desires that are impure. Nevertheless; I ask you to help me "bring every thought into captivity that exalt itself against the knowledge of God". Thank you for giving me a clean heart and renewing a right spirit within me. I also ask that you lead and direct me to someone that will not judge me, but loves "You" enough to walk with me until I am able to overcome these temptations. I put my hope and confidence in You. I pray this in Jesus' name, Amen!
